When major events hit the headlines, fraudsters are never far behind.
💧 If you receive an unexpected call, text, or email claiming to be from your water company saying that your area is affected by a hosepipe ban, Stop, Think Fraud:
❌ Don’t click links, people are being redirected to fake websites that look genuine
❌ Don’t share personal or banking details
❌ Don’t feel pressured into making a payment
✅ Genuine water companies won’t rush you into paying over the phone
Not sure if it’s real? Contact your water company using the official number from a recent bill or log into your account using the app.
Forward text to 7726, for calls send the word CALL followed by the number to 7726 and for emails forward them to report@phishing.gov.uk
