Onside a local charity which works across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, is looking for people to take on the role of a Relevant Persons Representative (RPR).
As an RPR the volunteer would be visiting a person just once every 6-8 weeks for no more than 1 hour. Volunteering would be local to where the volunteer lives. Volunteers as an RPR are safeguarding the rights of vulnerable people who don’t have the mental capacity to consent to care or treatment.
Onside’s Volunteer Manager, Claire Watkins, said “Our volunteers give their time, their passion and enthusiasm, this role is very worthwhile and rewarding.”
Volunteers are ordinary people of all ages and backgrounds they just need to be good listeners and have some time to give. We also have further opportunities with other advocacy projects.
If you can picture yourself in the role of an Onside volunteer please call Claire Watkins – Volunteer Manager on 01905 27525 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more. This type of volunteering is flexible to fit with your life and circumstances. Free training (throughout the year) is provided and all expenses paid.
Balfour Beatty, on behalf of Herefordshire Council are surface dressing 126 stretches of road (a total of 65 miles/106km) across the county. The work will take place over the six weeks from 21 May to end of June 2019.
Surface dressing is a coating of bitumen and stone that seals the road surface, improves its texture and extends its life. Any defects, such as pot holes, are fixed first. It’s a three-step process that is quicker than other road maintenance techniques, causing less disruption for residents and road users
We have published a map of sites, information about the process and information for businesses and residents on Herefordshire Council’s website at:https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/info/200196/roads/723/herefordshire_road_investment/4

As you may be aware the Travellers Sites Development Plan (DPD) is currently being examined by a government appointed Planning Inspector. Hearing sessions were held in May 2018 and March 2019.
As a result of discussions at these hearing sessions, the Inspector has issued proposed Main Modifications to the DPD. These main modifications are proposed in order to make the Traveller sites DPD ‘sound’.
The main modifications are open for public consultation from 1 May 2019 to 12 June 2019. It’s not too late if you would like to give your views.
They can be found, together with the representation forms and all the background information to the preparation of the document, online at: www.herefordshire.gov.uk/travellersdpdexamination
Representations can only be made on the Main Modifications and no other parts of the DPD. A schedule of additional modifications has also been prepared for information purposes only. The additional modifications are minor changes including factual updates and corrections; therefore these are published for information only.
